Relaxation began to settle in her fragile bones as she spent more time with the desert mare to the point where she was able to once again take note of her surroundings, that of the feeble breeze passing by her marred, dark coat, the scent of foliage and bones, to hear the movements of the forest as tree boughs brushed and rubbed against each other from the wind overheard bearing down on their leafy tops. Her new acquaintance had been right, it was a bit creepy in here, but darkness had been her only safety, her only friend in life and she was less afraid in a wood like this than anywhere else. Movement from the femme in front of her caused her to whip back to attention and once again tilt her body away. The entirety of her life had been filled with only pain from those around her and she flinched with anticipation whenever another made a move, especially if it was made toward her body. While she would never complain of the torment she went through, it wasn’t as if she looked forward to it either. Swa’s words were once again positive and uplifting, Malva never thought she would get used to this. She perked her tiny ears forward, taking in the belle-like voice and what it had to say. "What is… hide… and seek?" The midnight fae did not grow up playing games with other foals, at least not games that she enjoyed or chose to partake in. What she didn’t know was that she did play hide and seek, except, she was hiding from the torture her herd enjoyed putting her through while they seeked to give it to her.

And a job? A job was mentioned? Puzzlement worked its way onto her face. "My only job is to stay alive," she stated simply, "for Imre’s sake." It seemed as if the other knew what Malva was going to say before she even said it, telling her that her life did not revolve around her twin’s. With a wry twist of her mouth she countered, "You’re so silly. Of course my purpose in life is keeping him alive! " Malva was baffled at this newcomer’s ideas, and what did she know of her and the perlino’s lives anyway? He may not treat her with kindness but she knew he loved her. He had to, because she loved him.

The graceful dancer began to answer her earlier questions then introduced a snake. A snake! Malva stumbled backwards, her clubbed hoof catching on a root and tripping her to where she fell down into a sitting position. Luckily with the amount of debris on the forest floor it was a soft enough landing that she did not break anything, this time. Seeing that the viper was disinterested in anything other than staying around Swahil’s neck, the black mare pulled herself in a standing position once again. "Oh, uh, hi…" she gulped, "Gabby." The whites of her eyes remained slightly visible. What a scary companion! She could never imagine carrying a poisonous creature around her own neck. That was so… Well, scary! Not to mention dangerous.

Before she could ask why she had left home, further kind words emanated from the fae in front of her, and she just could not wrap her mind around their meaning. Nobody ever wanted to be friends with her, nobody valued her- she did not even value her own self! So how could this stranger do so after only this one interaction? This went against everything the broken onyx lass ever knew and it wasn’t something she was going to be able to accept as truth. Before she could point out the error of her thinking anew, Swa once again spoke, answering her earlier thought of why she wandered from the lands she was born in.

Utter shock coursed through her minute frame, mouth slightly opening from the story she was being told. Unwanted?! She blew a sharp breath out of her nostrils, ignoring everything the elegant gypsy said about Malva’s worth and instead flipped it around. "How could anybody not want you" she said huffily. "I am nothing, I am, truly. I am the nothing and nobody of this world but you are not that, and I cannot believe you have ever been made to feel that way." The fact that the other’s brother was the one who fought for Swahili’s worth made no sense to the shadowy unicorn, but it was an interesting concept to her. A brother who fought for her rather than with her? She couldn’t imagine Imre ever doing this for her, other than of course if there was a danger to her, and therefore his, life. "I am not worthy of your friendship, or your help. You are truly… silly, but sweet for offering these things to me. Perhaps if you met my brother, you could offer this to him? He is the one you should be meeting, not myself. I have nothing to offer you, or anyone really."
