Hi David Platt,if and when you speak again with Stafford Ollerenshawe,You may ask him if he remembers this tale? Osnabruck August 62.
Ollie played for a local German side,I think they met up weekly in a pub not far from Quebec Bks
I can remember the exact date too! .It was a mate of mine`s 21st Birthday,Bill Bostock, 1st Aug 1962,and so out we went to celebrate the occasion,in good old LF fashion,A pub crawl!!, started out in the 30 pfennig bar,had a good few . then out to do some more crawling!
We made to Ollie`s pub ,where we found those lovely big german glass boots holds two ltrs. of bier(I think)? so wanting to get Bostock well and truly ##### I filled it up with that classic bier Osnabruker exporter( no longer in existance)must have gone bust after the LF moved away.
And to a popular rude bier bar drinking song(which I wont relate here)

Bostock was told drink it in one!!,he nearly did too
Then it all happened ,as it usually does,Bostock wanted the boot as a momento of the occasion,so he grabs it and does a runner God knows how!
we could hardly walk, a few mins earlier! But run we did we mangaed to get back to Bks in through a gap in the fence behin D coy lines
and into c coy lines ,MP`s searching the camp ,all the usul suspects qustioned by ,Tommy Toothe (Roy`s brother) And Johnny Ball provo sgt
Swingin Jim was on the war path!
The pub owner knew,or suspected it nwas an LF,so he asked Ollie to investigate bring the culprits to justice,he wanted blood and his boot back !!
Ollie was in a no win situation! here,if he cracks the case he`s a tout!!,and forever damned.
so one of his advisors come up with a plan,give the glass boot back to Ollie,to return,and no questions asked,a master stroke!!
and so via a 3rd party the boot was given to ollie to return
The pub landlord calmed down,and msrs.Bostock and moran,did not have to spend any time in Johnny Balls b`n`b!
Think The landlord banned the LF`s for a few weeks
Ollie,was back in favour playing for the pub team and getting paid!!
