drag my teeth across your chest

una

It was dark once. And dark was all she knew. Comfort and safety, but dark all the same. And when she was thrust into the world where everything seemed so much brighter than it should have been, her world was turned upside down. But the familiar voice she had known, she had always known, reached out to her. Soft and kind as it had been the first time she had heard it.

"Shh, little one."

Little one. She blinked eyes of soft brown, looking up at her mother. She was unsteady as she moved, following Kohelet's guidance to drink. A thirst she didn't even know she had was quenched and as she finished she fell back onto her hocks in a small pile of limbs. White stocking clad legs kicked up into the air as Una wiggled in the grass before finally flipping onto her side.

Her tiny little tail thumped the grass, eliciting a bleat of start at the strange sound as wide eyes turned to look at her flank. Una turned back to her mother who she had rolled a bit away from and gave another sound of protest before attempting to pull herself to her feet.

After a few unsuccessful attempts she managed to right herself on trembling limbs. She flattened her ears against the gentle curl of her short mane and closed the gap to her dam's side with an uneven, but rather proud, stride; looking up at her with all the love in the world.
