The stout, painted stallion ambled comfortably through his lands. He had been here long enough now that was was settling in and beginning to think of it as home, something he thought he would never again find after leaving his last one. Life had thrown him tragedy and despite his several trips around the sun he did not know how to handle the blow, giving up on the idea of happiness all together. When he had washed up onto the islands it seemed as if the universe wanted him to have a second chance, and hesitantly he decided to grasp the opportunity given to him and laid claim to a land that seemed empty, waiting for its next ruler's reign. He quickly learned there were several who wandered throughout the forest but he was not one to turn any away, lest they caused any kind of trouble. So far he was glad that had not yet been the case.

His nostrils picked up a new scent, another stranger in his land. He turned toward where it seemed to originate from and let his legs carry him across the dirt and roots covering the forest floor as he closed the gap between himself and this newcomer. A small, black form came into view, and it seemed as if they caught sight of him at the same time, letting out a nicker once they were able to see each other. He let out his own greeting, a low, throaty whicker back, stopping a neck reach's length away. "I am Rilke, lead of the Forest where you find yourself. What is your name?" He didn't bother to ask where she was from, although once he thought about it, perhaps it would be best that he knew. If she was a runaway he didn't want to bring any trouble to his territory. "And what brings you?" Champagne eyes watched her closely, waiting for a response.
