This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. re the discussion on the conditions these ILLEGAL emigrants have to endure.....My mind went back to 1950 Egypt. Our toilet was a deep trench and the seats were holes in a long multi accommodating box with about ten holes.
Not a place one could sneak away for a quiet smoke as the flies could probably need to perch up your nose and ears.
New toilets were simply made by digging a trench next to the old one and carrying the box of seats over the new trench, filling the old one with the sand from the new dig.
As for the 3 part mattresses which separated leaving your bum on the springs of the bed......The huge bedbugs and mossies and we were not Illegals either. I sound like a Monty Python character don't I ?
