in the deafening silence; [ TEMBLOR / CELESTINE ]

Posted on November 6, 2022 at 04:13:00 PM by Rehoboam

what's a king
to a god?

"Celestine!" Rehoboam's voice rose above the crashing of the ocean as soon as his hooves met solid ground. The wall of jungle rose up before him just as the sand ended, as impenetrable of a fortress as he could have imagined. Was she still in there? Had he treated her well? Was she safe? The questions chased themselves endlessly through his mind as he shook himself of seawater. He could go running in there pell-mell and hope to come across them, but he didn't hold much hope for succeeding. More likely than not, he would run across the stallion first and never have a chance to actually rescue his other half. Hence the call, rather than a raid attempt.

"Temblor!" Against his better judgment, he also called out for the mysterious stallion that Azizi had mentioned. Rehoboam had not the foggiest idea of what he was like, other than that he wasn't Rougaru. There was still no clear indication whether he was some sort of descendant or relative, but Reh supposed it didn't matter. His mission here was the same regardless of who Temblor was.

He needed Celestine and his child back, and he wanted to see if Azizi had been found here. The once-Marauder had not heard back from his friend since and he'd be lying if he said that he wasn't worried about the young stallion. The last time they'd spoken, Azizi had promised to try and check in on Celestine to make sure she had not been ill-treated, and Reh feared the worst for him.

A part of Reh was still holding out for the stars to align. For Celestine and the child to emerge first, ready and willing to swim with him back to the Lagoon without Rehoboam even needing to speak to Temblor... but he knew this was highly unlikely. The best he could realistically hope for is that the Paradise lead would be willing to bargain with him for Celestine's safety, but he was prepared to come to blows if needed. Bargaining might take longer, and be riskier, but he felt like it put Celestine in the least amount of danger.

Without knowing anything about this stallion, he was afraid that he would turn his vengeance onto her or the child for Rehoboam's attempts to rescue her, and his already-guilty conscience could not bear the risk. And so with eyes wide as saucers and his whole body tense with anxiety, the painted stallion walked along the beach, avidly listening for any hint of his wife or child.

OOC: I threw up a battle as well, but you can ignore that/I will cancel it if they want to bargain instead.
