The thunder of tiny hoof beats grows increasing louder with each passing moment. There, cresting a hill, was Úna. A blur of obsidian and white, she came barreling down the small hill. Her legs, getting more muscled each day, churned beneath her small painted body. Her ears were knit back into her fluffy mane, near obscured by a tangle of hair just behind her ears. Her soft laugher spills from her lips, slowing as she reaches the group of them. She barely even registers that Fell is not alone, instead crashing into his chest with a squeal.
"Daddy! You're home!" She mashes her fuzzy forehead against his leg, almost catlike, mimicking how she had seen some of the herd interacting with one another. "I saw Bluebird again today!" Úna exclaims, looking up at him with big bright eyes. Bluebird, being the name she had given the bluebird she had been hanging around with. Unbeknownst to Úna, he was not one but many that she simply assumed was the same bird. Either way she was happy.
It seems to finally dawn on her that there is a group and she turns to look at the blue mare that seemed to look at her father with such disdain. "You must not be very smart if you think my mother is going to let you get away with this." Úna rings her tail in frustration, smacking it against her haunches.
"Um, my daddy is the smartestest in the whole wide world." The tiny painted filly plants her feet and pushes her ears back against the slight curl of her neck. "Daddy, she smells funny, why is she here?" Úna had never stopped asking him questions, not since she had first learned to talk. And even though he could not respond in a way she could understand, it never stopped her from treating him the same as she would have if he could talk. She fixes Azalaïs with an accusatory glare, stomping her tiny feet in irritation. |
