Rigel

[REE-gehl]

▻ dhaniya ✮ varajakshi ◅

▻ mṛgaśira ♀ ◅

For as wordy as Rigel normally was, naturally, it seemed this stallion was his due-north opposite. Of the coldest island, the least spoken, the most large, the most quick to action. He bows because Rigel has never been much more than a Prince in the happenstance and luck of birth, gifted the title because of his parents and not his own might or wit. He knows what it is that his own brother and their father faced in maintaining such a thing and it left him - if a bit belatedly - reverent.

He apologizes because it is natural for one to apologize for a mistake, he bows because it is only right that he show deference to the King of the land on which he stood, and when Fell lunges - he had been prepared to take the blow that came because it was his ignorance and blindness in seeking Dhaniya that had led to a transgression he deserved the punishment for. Logic, fractured though it had become in fighting the brainwashing of the priests of Mira, still had a grip on his behavior - and it is only a young male voice shouting to his father that stops a potentially worse thing from happening.

It is perhaps the first solidly positive thing that had happened in several years.

The blue, milky way painted, stallion looks at the same moment that Fell turns his ear and spares him the validated bite for his offense. He was at Fell’s mercy, after all, and he would not run from the punishment a King saw fit to dole out. It was, in his experience, a very easy thing for a King to find and mete out their judgment no matter how far they were from their target. His own father had never even deigned to spare a look for his son, after all, and still this was the state he had found himself in now.

Rigel also does not entreat the young stallion for any further leniency, knowing well that if Fell were one of those who could not stand to be thwarted at any level - it would only serve to put him in danger. It seems that both he AND Dhaniya feel the tension ease, however, because she looks up at her new Lord and offers a breathy plea. Her glance is so foggy of meaning that he cannot imagine what it was she thought - a strange feeling, for once he could read her very easily indeed. Yet now he adjusts from the only vaguely self-defensive cringe he had frozen into while waiting for and decides to make a bolder offer than he had ever done in his history with Dhaniya or in the places they called their motherlands.

"I do not expect you to let me stay--" he says, panicked that she would ask any favor of someone strange [she did not smell enough of Fell to be his] for his sake. "But instead of a woman you have taken on impulse or happenstance - let me recruit for you someone who ultimately sought to become a part of your kingdom consciously and without hesitation." He hesitates himself here, nervous to become too wordy with someone who was so quiet in comparison. He looks to the boy with only a snap second, not daring to encroach on Dhaniya - "I do not want to simply remove from you what you have brought home, but to offer you instead someone who would come here with the intent and desire to remain."

His ears and head remain low, his eyes only showing the rim of white because he had to look so very…. well… up. "In fact, I will do so even if Dhani-- Dhaniya chooses to stay. I do not want to be a thief, only offer the woman I have loved the chance to come home with me to our family..." At that moment, he does break from looking at both stallions in preference for the mare he’d only just rediscovered. His face said plainly that he would not make her come, that he only wished to buy her the choice she’d not had in Mahgrib and that he had foolishely presumed was him when she’d found The Islands in the first place.

"Whatever you or she wish," He steps one step back, retreating a little in the knowledge he could have still simply irritated the much larger creature-- and he was beginning to feel the bone gnawing chill of being wet on the Shores of Tinuvel.
