She observed as the dark stallion inspected the small wound she had inflicted upon him and felt a bit proud of herself for landing her blow. When she had given it, it was not with the intention of harming him badly, more of a reflexive movement from the surprise and anger she felt from his own initiation of pain. Would that be what their future interactions, if there were any, only ever entail? It was not a future which she looked forward to if that were the case, but if that's what it was, she was willing to deal with it, at least for a time. She needed somewhere to stay while she could plan a strategy to find her sister, somewhere she could perhaps gather some intelligence about where she was and her surroundings. Maybe she would even hear talk about a new red mare washing up somewhere else and then follow where that trail led.

Her thoughts were brought sharply back to the man when air escaped his lips, and her eyes narrowed in calculation. Was that... a laugh? Or just a heavy breath? Before she had time to decide, he inched his way closer to her, and her body trembled as she fought her initial reaction to fight. He was larger than her, his body filled out in muscle and flesh revealing the strength he must have under that dark coat. This fight would only end with her in either agony or even dead, and she couldn't afford either if she planned on finding her sister. So, rather than strike out at him as she wished she could, she stood still and let him near. When no words were offered to her, she stuck to the pattern and gave none of her own, merely watching and waiting on what he would do next.
