The taste of freedom is not an unfamiliar one. Vihar had more or less let her daughter run wild in the Cove, often even joining in with Vala’s shenanigans. The little cream-colored filly knew almost nothing of rules, at least outside of the one or two she often ignored at home. Taking off into the ocean seemed like a natural progression, after all the trouble and fun had been had in the Cove.

The swim is harder than Vala expects it to be, but she is determined. She has not experienced enough failure to learn anything at all, so one could argue that she is also quite stupid, but she makes it to the Crossing in one piece (enabling her to continue learning nothing). The air here is far more mild than on Tinuvel, and Vala drinks it in greedily, chasing after leaves and late-season bugs as soon as she’s caught her breath.

There are a few others mingling around the common areas, but Vala is not interested in any of them. Growing up in the Cove had been crowded; Vala is glad to be on her own, and does not want to give up her newfound solitude by conversing with anyone here. There is, however, one interesting creature.

A very pale someone stands out against the colorful Fall background. Vala halts her romping, staring curiously across the grass toward the waterfall. It is not the lovely curtain of water that interests her; the Cove had a good few waterfalls of its own, and Vala is easily bored with the familiar. It is the ivory figure at the edge of the pool that catches her eye.

Vala stalks forward, ears cupped curiously toward the individual, so different from the rainbow of colors in her home. She is not yet two, lanky and leggy still, but even as an adult this stranger would stand far taller than she. Vala puffs out her chest as she approaches, trying to at least appear close in size, and thus, a formidable match should they come to blows. ”Who are you?” she demands, boldly enough to suggest that the little mouse of a girl might actually own the Falls.
