My heart has teeth;

NYIMARA
I'm headed straight for the castle;

Nyimara is not left to wait long for a reply to the demands that she lay bare before them. Dark ears twist backwards and then forward again as Antares issues his own conditions to her decision. A small part of her screamed that she should find insult in the obstinance of a nomad stallion seeking a home for his mate and family, and yet the more rational beast , the one that she usually kept silenced, demands she listen. There was something about the calm light of his eyes that calmed the raging fires inside without suffocating the flames to the point of exhaustion.

Pale lashes blink slowly over dark eyes as she shifts the weight of her body from one hind to the other in companionable silence. A single lobe flickers as his suggestion sinks in and despite the mask of indifference that remains tied firmly into place across her facade; within the war of words screams high and low. The irrational part of her wanted to scoff at his notion and threaten to uproot him and his family from whatever fantasies that they might ever have had of returning to the Dunes that she called home. The unreasonable part of her wanted to turn her back on him and give him no choice but to bow to her will or depart for more favorable lands. And yet despite the snarlings of the beast, the voice of reason recognized the wisdom in the red haired man’s words and can find no fault. He wanted to protect those dearest to him from even the queen if need be. She was as much a stranger - an outsider - to him as he was to her. Would she too not also have attempted the same request were she in his place?
Thin, dark lips press firmly together as her dark brows knit in thought. The request he makes is not an unheard of request, even if it is not one she ever expects to come across. Though still new to the islands themselves, Nyimara knew it would not be long before the whispers of her fearsome stature grew, especially if she had any say in it. Antares' request to remain an all but separate entity entirely is understandable and even wise in retrospect. Even if by the gods something were to happen to her or war of her own making came searching at her doorstep, at least she had his word that he would offer refuge to her children and those unable to defend themselves.

The absolution with which he spoke of defending the children is reaffirming. Attention draws away from the internal struggle to genuinely stare into the eyes of the bloodmarked stallion. Where only moments ago gentleness and fairness had shown, now his gaze burned with the same eternal flames that ignited her own soul. What might have happened to him to cause such a fierce response at the suggestion of children coming to harm she wondered? A ghostly smile tugs the corners of her lips as her finely dished head dips slightly in acknowledgement. Whatever his request, it was a fair trade if it meant that she could ensure the safety and security of her children. Antares left no doubt in her mind that the determination and fierceness of his spirit would be put into defending those under his charge. ”Then I suppose we are in accord.” she purrs, her unusually long white tail snapping audibly against the sands behind her. She glances towards the eastern skies for a long silent moment and then back to the auburn haired stallion, a sly smile playing across her lips. ”I look forward to meeting your family…. soon.” she finishes, leaving careful emphasis on the final word. As long as he kept up his end of the bargain, Nyimara saw no reason why the cohabitation of their herds could not be one of mutual benefits.
