He can see that she catches herself in believing him, trusting him, and deems it too soon to do so. It is reasonable that she changed how quickly she was submitting to his words - he does not fault her or grow wearied by the additional wall built up before his very eyes second by second. He tilts his head as she seemed to gauge him, sizing him up properly as he makes his offer and describes for her the weight of his familial burden. Her surprised eyes on the number draw another explanation, "It seems like many - but that is because I and my brothers travel together. Altogether there are four of us, three of us have wives, and even though our fourth brother has not chosen his - there are also children and free-souls who tie themselves to none of the households yet. I know of a couple that will likely establish their own and increase the household size to five or six after they have formally found their footing."

It is, perhaps, a negative in itself. She would not be the focus of some lad’s eye right off the bat… at least Aldebaran had not seen to it to try to establish himself through marriage yet…

"What’s the catch?" He flicks his ears in surprise, though that is all that he gives away - that twist of one ear forward and one ear back - but she was not unreasonable and so he didn’t pursue his self-defense too terribly fast. She sighs at herself relatively quickly anyway. "Forgive me.. That was rude of me." he shakes his head - "It was a reasonable question, my being a mere stranger, Guinevere. I would rather you be suspicious of a good person, rather than eager to snap up any lucky seeming gift offered by a nefarious one." It’d be a bad idea to invite in to his family anyone who was too eager to believe just anyone.

"What I mean is that your offer is kind, far kinder than I deserve. I am not sure I have anything to offer you in return." She explains, her smile soft and almost sheepish. It was new, seeing someone of Desertblood being so deferring, but he would not complain. Too many hot heads in the family was going to only bring headache or heartache. "I can understand how my offer may appear on the surface between strangers - I take no offense that you should find it too-good-to-be-true. We did as well when we discovered we could have such a thing without too much struggle." The idea of being given something in return, though, makes him laugh a little bit.

"Sister, you need give nothing that you do not wish - whether you come or not. It will not change on my whim, this place I have described to you. The same people will be there, the same environment will not alter - a desert home where my family lives is simply a description." He opens the way to her by changing the angle of his body. "Obedience is of course required, same with any home with any group - but I am not unreasonable to hear the changes that need to be made… nor am I prone to whimsical bouts of fancy to get me into trouble with those beyond my home… If you wish, come and see it for yourself. If it suits you, you may choose to stay or leave as you wish."
