stay with me & wait a while

Shiloh hadn't meant to interrupt or eavesdrop, it's just that prospect of finding someone to talk to other than Rae or Temblor was exciting. Not that she minded either of them, it's just that Tem made her heart flutter with nerves and speaking to Rae required a great deal of patience still. The reclusive little mare was sweet, but you had to have a certain amount of willingness to talk to yourself to make a real conversation happen.

As it was, it was the mention of Tinuvel that drew Shiloh in. She'd drifted like a ghost through the trees until the two figures became visible, but found that they were unfamiliar to her. The elder mare, the one that stayed behind, was painted with white in the fashion of all of Shiloh's brothers and sisters. Was she a lost sibling? It seemed unlikely, even given her father's promiscuity, but she couldn't help but be curious. She was intent on finding out, but stalled when she saw Temblor approaching.

Autumn had come and gone and he had not approached her. In truth, Shiloh wasn't sure she was ready to be a mother, but she hadn't been prepared for the ramifications of not being asked in the first place. It made her question Temblor's interest in her, although she knew that was unfair of her. He had given her no indication that he didn't enjoy her company, but the doubts still plagued her, especially when he was not around.

Eventually, her desire to know more about mare who spoke of a grandfather on Tinuvel outweighed her anxieties and she stepped confidently out from the jungle and moved toward them. "Hello," she murmured gently as she drew to a halt, her gaze moving from Tem back to the other mare. She didn't want to give Tem the impression she was uninterested, so despite the way her gaze did not stay on his long, she still stretched her muzzle out to brush his shoulder briefly before turning back to address the other mare.

"I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but I thought I heard you mention Tinuvel?" She offered a faint smile before trying to explain. "I was born in the Cove. Do you know of Solomon, perhaps?" The elegant mare before her didn't resemble the tiny Yakut that had once ruled the Bay, but nor did she resemble the gray or sabino stallions that had ruled the Inlet before Parvati. If she were one of Shy's lost siblings, she would have had to be from somewhere else, somewhere her father did not speak of.
