Despite the emptiness he’d teased, Psychedelic wasn’t alone near the Inlet’s girl-queen for very long. A scream wrenched itself angrily from a small distance away and Psychedelic’s eyes rolled, catching sight of the painted stallion charging in. The Lagoon boss pinned his ears, jerking his head away and gathering his legs underneath him to pull back a step or two. As much as he was here to poke around and find out how much trouble Parvati may or may not continue to be for the Lagoon, he wasn’t here to start new trouble today. He gave way for the stallion to put himself between them, lowering his head with his ears pinned back, glowering up at the paint after he’d intruded.
“Back!” The stallion demanded, hoof striking out toward Psychedelic, making the Lagoon boss snort indignantly and strike the ground himself, though he still swayed in his spot and took another small step back.
The angry voice of the mare’s come, and Psychedelic’s darkened yellow eyes lift from the stallion, to her. “Well good,” he huffed, “I have no interest in meeting her.” He was almost offended that she thought he might want to. Children, eugh. He had enough complicated issues with children, his own and others, to add another one to that list.
“I know you’ve had your fun flirting with plenty of Lagoon stallions the past few years while the Lagoon went belly up,” he said the words pointedly, eyes briefly testing the expression on the stallion’s face when Psychedelic mentioned her wandering eye. How traditional was their relationship?
He didn’t look at the stallion long. His attention returned to Parvati.
“I’m here to warn you that things are a little different in the Lagoon now in case you’ve still got the hots for any of the boys there. If you try to steal my brothers away or you come and fight me for them… It won’t go unanswered like it has before.”
