GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
we could be strangers in the night

YOUR LOVE IS ALWAYS DANGEROUS
and now i'm lost in us

The mare clarified there was no set destination in mind for her or her son, and Zevulun swallowed back the gut-reaction to clarify his prior statement and offer her a more permanent residence. He had to remind himself that a lone mare with a young colt at her hip would be far more wary of where she settled and who she trusted to ensure her and her child’s safety. As much as he wanted to throw open the doors to the Prairie to any and every traveler that wandered through, he knew better than to press. Let them settle if they wished, and carry on when life chose to push them elsewhere.

She introduced herself as Cerosi, and Zevulun made a note to tuck the name away with some importance, particularly when she agreed that she and her son could do with some rest in the Prairie before moving on.

“The Prairie is vast and full of good feeding and freshwater,” he explained, “I keep my borders open to anyone who isn’t looking to cause trouble.” A communal home of sorts where multiple families of every shape and type could rest peacefully beneath his watchful eye, sharing their vigilance to keep his family safe when he couldn’t. “You and your son will be safe here until you’re ready to continue on.”

The option needed to be reiterated, just to assure her no matter how long she chose to stay, Zevulun would never reach out and tug that door shut back in her face. So many souls had already come and gone through the Prairie in the years since he’d claimed it as his.

“I have a few children the same age as your son, I believe.” He mentioned, glancing back over at her boy and thinking of his youngest, assuming they must be around a similar age. “There are a few belonging to others who call the Prairie home, and I have a few older ones, too. He’ll have plenty of friends to make.” Zevulun offered a reassuring smile toward her, hoping it might ease her to think of her boy having other foals to spend his time with. Maybe it would help give her a small reprieve, too, where she could finally rest instead of being the only soul looking out for the safety of her son.

“I can leave you both to rest,” he suggested, “or I can lead you further inland, where I believe the large majority of the herd was foraging for good grazing.” Zevulun laid the choice in front of her rather than force her into moving more into the Prairie. There was every bit of a chance the mare wanted to be alone with her son, which also meant Zevulun would need to pry himself from her company. He could do it, no matter how intrigued by her he was.
