I am the monster in the woods;

The young wolf does not register Parvati or the young filly now. Feral, golden eyes focus solely on the dunskin lagoon stallion standing in front of him. A glimmer of satisfaction flashes across his yellow eyes as the fearsome display he attempts to create succeeds in driving the unfamiliar stallion back a step and then another. The lagoon stallion does not completely submit to his authority however. When the stallion’s forelimbs strike out towards the young wolf in retaliation, the silver bay beast tenses his body. Muscles in his hind legs bunch, preparing to receive the weight from the rest of his body to allow Loupgaru to plunge headlong into the offending beast. Injuries and sores could be assessed later if it meant that he might be able to prove that he was just as fierce as the creature he was named for.

Yet before he can fully manage to secure his battle plan into action, Parvati steps forward, pressing her shoulder against his own. The contact is fleeting but enough to jolt him from his focus. Mahogany ears pin tightly beneath the mantle of silver and cream that hangs heavily down the muscular curve of his neck. The venom in her words draws a single corner of his whiskered lips upward. This child is his. HIS. The confirmation is enough to tug at his curiosity. He wanted to gaze upon her, this filly that was HIS. However the presence of the dunskin stallion, though far less threatening than he had appeared moments ago, is enough to keep his feral gaze locked firmly into place. The stallion turns his own ears backwards, his demeanor almost disgusted at the idea of meeting a child. A growl of warning, guttural and fierce, echoes from the young wolf’s lungs as he stomps onto the green earth beneath him. Once more his body tenses, prepared and willing to feel his jaws snap tight around the dunskin stallion’s throat if only it meant that he might be able to present the limp body to his daughter for the disrespect she is shown. That is, until the stallion continues on, glancing at Loupgaru with a cocky smile. ’I know you have had your fun flirting with plenty of Lagoon stallions in the past few years….’ Oh really? This is news to him.

Hardened eyes turn on Parvati now, cold and indifferent. Lots of fun huh? The thought made his skin crawl. It was not unheard of for stallions to roam the islands in search of mares to…. Couple with. Loupgaru had never been one of those desperate enough to go looking for the trouble as he believed it to be, but then again, he was also not one to turn away a good romp in the sheets and Parvati had proven to him quite a few times that she was just as eager to jump into bed with him as he was willing to offer it. Mares? Mares were supposed to be more…. Well, more inconspicuous about their affairs. To have this Lagoon boss apparently come to the Inlet just to warn the painted queen that her escapades were no longer welcome must mean that it had been in excess. Wasn’t it?

He snorts, giving his proud head a shake before turning his attention now towards the filly huddled beneath Parvati’s hip. Those yellow eyes… those could be his eyes. Yet how many other stallions were there on the islands with the same fierce eyes? He knew of three different brothers right off the bat that sported the same yellow gold gaze. How many of those in the Lagoon sported those eyes too? How did he know that this little filly and her mother that he had so bravely jumped to defend were even his to begin with? Parvati had made no secret of her affections for the spotted stallion, but here he was thinking he was the only one to warm her bed. How many others. This was a conversation that would absolutely continue. But not now. Now, they must appear a united front if only to ensure that the Lagoon stallion did not return later with his brothers-in-arms for a raid though they would surely be disappointed if he had no interest in children. The spotted boy? Well, Loup might have happily handed his little ass over if only it meant he did not have to watch him and Parvati coddle one another for hours on end.

Attention returns to the stallion as the young wolf huffs a hard blast into the warm air. It was time for him to go. ”Back.” he snarls again. ”Leave.” he growls, jerking his head forward as though to herd the dunskin off back in the direction he had come. He and Parvati had quite a few things to discuss.
