Winter had come and gone to the islands. Kanti had mixed feelings about this. She used to enjoy playing in it, but it was mostly with her mate. Now he's gone from her life and the anniversary of his death was coming up. This put Kanti on edge, and she was not taking her eyes off of her son. She left the Bay to find Rafe, but had no luck so far. She wasn't sure if she would be welcome back to the Bay. She once again got caught in the crossfires of a battle between two stallions and she didn't know how to feel. Part of her wanted to run away, the other part wants to fight. She fled when her mate died, got overwhelmed with the stress of the war that was coming, and did not know what to do. If only she had her sisters with her, they know what to do. One was nice and fierce, and the other one was sassy and wanted to cause trouble with stallions. But she had trouble keeping up with their whereabouts. The nice sister was in a herd far away, the sassy one was said to be with humans. Kanti was not the one to keep up with gossip, she did not care. Her deceased mate had a weakness for gossip, and he secretly enjoyed it. If he were here with her, he would have told her about what was happening in the islands. She loved him deeply and wanted him with her. The caring and sweet stallion she knew since she was a yearling, got taken away by a disease that changed his behavior, and Kanti felt alone. She felt like this for a while. Her friends ran away, the Bay leads and possibly the islands were not happy with her. She needed to distract herself, she was determined to find her son's father, and she wasn't going to stop.

The former silver queen entered the Prairie with her son behind her. She could smell a few distant scents, but none smelled familiar. "Mommy, is daddy here?" Qaletaqa asked. Kanti made a disappointed sigh. "I doubt it. I'm not really sure what island he's on…" Kanti said. Kanti was still a bit confused about what island is where. She wasn't used to swimming from island to island all the time. Back at home, it was just land and different herds in different biomes. To her, everything was far, and it took a few days to reach the other herds. That’s because her herd used to live in the mountains and the mountains looked scary to anybody who dared entered, and it seemed that only dark-colored equines inhabited the mountains. Kanti never quite understood it. Didn't he live in the desert and where was that?? She'll figure it out soon. "Rafe!? Does anyone know of Rafe?" She called out and hoping to get somebody's attention on Rafe's whereabouts.
