Well for a long time there were penalties for Chinese couples to have more than one child, they always hoped for and sometimes committed infanticide if a girl was born; and they were desperate not to let their only children die even tho lifesaving organ valves and parts were only available on the black market for parental procurement. There has traditionally been a shortage of females of marrying age; the one-child rule has reportedly been relaxed.
But it is clear the Chinese attitude about human work is to throw people at tasks whereas the west has stressed automation when possible because of our more recent low birthrate.
(MY family has some experience with frequent health care trips to China.)
There are a dozen or more megacities on this planet which are hopelessly overcrowded and unable to meet public health and infrastructure needs to support their populations. The closest is Mexico City but there are a number in Eurasia. Replies: There have been no replies.
