so heavy the crown

Azalaïs still wasn't sure how she felt about Fell herself.

He was infuriatingly handsome and charmingly mysterious (or maybe she had that backwards). He was an enigma of a man cloaked in shadow and silence and it both entranced and angered her. She hated him at first for taking her from the only home she'd ever known. But she couldn't deny that in doing so he had also given her an opportunity to see parts of the world she never had before. Tinuvel was beautiful in a cold, strange way, and as the months wore on she found herself admiring its snow-laden landscape more and more.

She also found herself admiring Fell more, but kept those thoughts to herself. She wasn't interested in encroaching on the Bay queen's mate or claiming him for himself. She was slightly embarrassed that one of their many scuffles had devolved into something far more primal, and had avoided Fell and his lover for days afterwards. But it was what it was, and so far no other consequences - aside from the one growing inside her - had come from it.

As she'd grown more accustomed to the ebony king's presence she had begun to seek him out. Usually it was in times of boredom, but occasionally she had simply wanted the company of the only somewhat familiar being here. But today the tables had turned and it was Fell singling her out from the rest of the herd.

Azalaïs shot him a confused look and snaked her own head out to snap her jaws at him, though the attempt was half-hearted and there was no aggression behind it. Her blunt teeth clicked dully in the air only inches from his hindquarters, a smirk playing across her lips as she followed him.

"I hope you know my mother won't let you get away with this," she snarked, motioning towards the swell of her belly with a twinkle in her amber eyes. The words were an echo of the ones she spoke when they first met, but this time there was no venom imbued in her tone. "She's going to be very upset when she finds out you seduced her little princess and gave her another grandbaby in the process."

She thought the comment might get a rise from Fell so she preemptively danced away, hoping to avoid any gnashing teeth aimed at her person. But like a moth drawn to flame she quickly drew herself back into his orbit, coming to stand side-by-side next to him. Though it was springtime and the weather was warming there was still a noticeable nip in the air, and the desert-born princess was all too eager to share warmth where she could find it.

"So, did you herd me over here for any particular reason? Or are you just bored?" she asked, tilting her head towards him to see his answer.
