and I miss summertime

RAMIEL
asking where the time's gone, dreaming with the lights on
trying to keep your eyes on something along the rise
you and I bide our time... and I miss summertime

It had been time for a while for Ramiel to finally challenge for his freedom or even attempt to escape from the Dunes. He knew his father would like him to return to the Prairie if just to have trusting eyes to keep it safe, but there was a piece of Ramiel not entirely concerned with rushing himself back so quickly. Life was nice in the Prairie, true, but in the end he had an adventurer’s spirit and the differences from Luthien to Salem intrigued him. Ramiel enjoyed his time here and enjoyed learning how to thrive and live in a place that seemed, on the surface level, mostly barren. There was water if one searched and plenty of food, too. The formations the canyons and hills made were beautiful and far different than he’d ever been privy to witness.

But Ramiel was beginning to feel guilty and every day when he awoke and explored the territory, finding new interesting creatures to watch or vegetation to carefully inspect or even pretty stones to uncover in the waters, the nagging pressure calling him back home grew heavier and heavier yet.

There was one thing he had not done, though, that he had wanted to. He wanted to simply speak with the queen, Nyimara, who he’d personally witnessed as a very brazen and very strong mare. So, when Ramiel noticed her standing off on her own, he drew himself up and decided the time had come to at least speak with her, if not make up his mind at last to try and find a way to leave the Dunes. He whinnied out, wanting her to take note of his non-aggressive stance before he approached, hoping this discussion could go… amicably?

In truth, Ramiel wasn’t sure what to make of it - of her, of his being here.

“Queen Nyimara?” He addressed her with a question as he drew close, “I was hoping we might speak…” Ramiel only paused briefly before he said, “I’ve never asked you why it was me you brought here to your home… Would you enlighten me?”
