death can have me when it earns me

The russet and snow colt had found himself quite enthralled by the fish. Some were bright colors while others were dark and muted and he found his eyes darting here and there as he tried to keep up with them. The ripples they left in the water only obscured them so much. It was perhaps this infatuation with his newfound interest that prevented him from hearing or smelling the filly as she approached. Despite the sound of the falls and the rippling fish, there was not much other noise and her voice cut through it like a knife. Startled, he flicked back his ears and turned his mud-caked face in her direction.

His eyes, nearly as pale as the fall's pool, focused on her. He was not as familiar with others as she was, a bit more wild and quite a bit more dirty. He does not notice the slight disdain in her voice or the way she wrinkles her nose. He is not afraid of her but he is wholly unsure what to say. "It wouldn't take long to get clean." He considers her words and her mud-free coat and looks back to the water with a gentle hum. It had no been his intention to enter the water, there was a slight nip in the air.

However, sometimes things don't go the way we want.

Kratos had still not said a word but he gave a somewhat sheepish grin as he hoisted himself to his feet. He had placed himself a bit too close to the edge and as the sod crumpled beneath his growing hooves he dropped into the water below leaving only a splash of water that touched the shore behind. He sank like a rock and the fish he had been watching only moments before shot across the small lake. He surfaced with a gasp, spitting water out as he did. He turns back to Vex, "I guess that's one way to do it." Paddling his legs through the shallows he leaps back onto the embankment with relative ease despite his waterlogged state. He quickly begins to shake off, standing perhaps a bit too close for comfort, and spraying a barrage of water in her direction as he did. "I'm Kratos," he says, not asking her name. It wasn't that he didn't want it, but merely he didn't quite know how to talk to strangers. And he certainly didn't seem phased by any part of their interaction so far.
