Although Sakhmet had been confident in the face of a stranger here to do physical battle, the grey mare was not when presented with a more personal, mental war. One she only truly waged with herself. Her nearly white ears tilt back (not pinned) and she looks away from the blood marked stallion, unable to hold his gaze upon this new subject. Cowardice she wanted to hiss at herself in punishment, but she does it all the same.


“I believe Atair seeks what is no longer there.” the grey mare confesses. “What was once fire, is only ash.” Finally, she is able to bring her two toned gaze back to him. She should be honored that they still wish for her to be part of their Sadim, and in his house hold, for all the venom she once had. Sakhmet is not blind nor deaf to what she was being presented. It was only her lack in strength to be able to take it.


The mare knows she should probably explain better as to what she meant, but she had never been good with words. A trait she had only made worse in her son by hardly ever speaking to him as he was growing up. If only they had been witness to her failing to Ra, then Antares would have never suggested her involvement with the twins. Sakhmet needs to explain how she remembers drinking the wind as she raced across the sands with Aldebaran. The memory of the burn of muscle and heart as she fought for what she believed was hers. That the desire, the addiction, had all but vanished like nighttime mist to the morning sun.


Sakhmet does not know why she exists anymore, nor did she have the energy or desire to find out as she once did.


“I have no verdict to give you.” Sakhmet finally says. Everything else she means to say getting lost along the way, unable to be formed into words.
