THESE NIGHTS ARE GETTIN' DARKER
Vhagar looked at Oswin with a mix of curiosity and suspicion. She believed she lived here now? The filly wasn't sure what to think of that! After all, she lived here or she didn't. "Tear?" She repeated back to her, scrunching her nose up. "Why are you sad? You don't look like you're crying." Vhagar would never admit to having cried herself, but she'd seen her mother cry. Estella wasn't quite as adventurous as Vhagar wanted her to be. Vhagar had wanted nothing but to explore beyond the sea since the first moment she'd seen the other islands in the distance. Estella had, of course, dashed such dreams almost immediately.

And the first day Vhagar had snuck away and wandered into the shallows, Estella had come running and grabbed her by the neck so fast. The golden mare had spent the next several hours inspecting her for injuries between sobs and hadn't let Vhagar out of her sight for at least a week. Vhagar felt bad enough about the whole encounter she hadn't mentioned wanting to leave again. However, she didn't feel bad enough to not sneak away from her unsuspecting mother every chance she got.

"Vhagar." She says, matter of factly, as if it was common knowledge. She looks past Oswin to the waves, her ears pricking up. "You came from out there?" The answer was obvious, after all Vhagar had never seen her before. "What's it like?" She barely gave Oswin a chance to answer her earlier question before continuing. Expectantly she turned her pale-green gaze back to her.
