What you want ain't always what you need (birth/Sokar)

OOC: Possible trigger warning for death.

The moment the sun began to set she knew tomorrow would be different. The baby had grown quiet, she had grown restless, and everyone close to her were staying near. The could sense that time was near, but someting in Scorpio told her to be weary. She didn't know why, but if this birth was going to be anything like Sagittarius's she was in for a long night. A long, painful night.

Nightfall fell upon the Dunes sending it into another silent night. Lately not even the misdeeds of its Queen has been stirring the place to life. Nyimara has been awfully quiet (not that she should really complain) and her close companions seemed silent with her. Scorpio should be happy that she could breathe easier bringing a new child into the world. When she had Sagittarius she had no idea what to expect, but now she expected peace. No one was retaliating against Nyimara because she wasn't doing anything to make the other herds upset. This new baby would give some life to the Dunes. Some promise that the Queen may smile upon from and keep letting her have that peace of mind.

As far as she knew, she was only one having a baby this spring. This baby was very special not only for being the only baby in the Dunes, but finally being a love child. One created from the happiness of finding her other half. Sokar had taken a long time to show up, but if he had shown up sooner her darling Sag wouldn't be here. Her first born daughter would also be very special to her. She prayed every day that Kerr would allow her daughter to find her happiness much sooner than she had. She also prayed that Sokar would care for her like his own child considering she never had a father to look up to. Scoprio smiles as she looks upon the sleeping faces on her new family.

Sokar, Kachina, Sagittarius, and Aries all sleeping peacefully near her. They could all sense the time was near, but she wasn't about to give birth in front of all of them. The red varnish mare stands with a small grunt as she slowly lays a soft kiss of her lips against her daughter’s cheek. She then does the same to Sokar (gently, hopefully not to wake them) before walking away to give birth in solitude. As the sun rises, Sag begins to stir awake. "Momma?" Her mother was the first horse she thought of because of the looming birth. As her eyes open to find her mother missing she stands and turns wildly. "Mother!" She yells, but she doesn't answer.

A short distance away, Scorpio lays flat on her side in the sand. The morning suns shines bright upon the colt that stirs with life beside her. But only the sun keeps her body warm now.
