I went ISMA/MSA/Oswego challenge feature OK except for the 12 car draw for position. There are many improvements to be made.
1. The redraw makes heats meaningless. Top 4 redraw so no real racing to win the heat.
2. Not having more than 24 cars also makes heats meaningless. Everyone is in. Problem - there are those that only run a few laps and take the $1200 payout. After lap 22 caution, half the 21 cars were in the pits.
3. Need to unify rules. Now 3 different set of rules hurts car counts unless you can support more than 1 car.
4. However, classic might be a little different - with 200 laps and stay out of trouble most cars will be able to have a good finish.
5. Stands less than half full. No promotion for these special events. If you are not a regular fan at Oswego - how would you ever know what's going on. These events need TV time and media coverage. Dirt week will be plastered all over. Outlaw Sprints get TV clips leading up to events. Oswego will not survive without bringing in new fans. They need to reach out of the Central NY area. Oswego, ISMA/MSA need better promotion.
5. Need good regular weekly purses for the BB Supers. Adding more classes to bring in a few more fans does not help the major attraction that is slowly disappearing.
And the list can go on. The customer needs to be listened to. If you want to sell your product - it needs to be advertised and be of quality. Do you ever see a good write-up on the Oswego Page. You can read face book but what is wrong with a few words about the race, winner and car sponsors? Now the write-ups are just how they finish.
If you run a business and owning a speedway is a business - you need to promote your product and make steady improvements. This place may end up being a Dirt Track unless someone takes the initiative to bring this sport back.
John Nicotra and others are at least making and effort to save the BB Supers.
