Mage
mare - gnome x acalia - prairie
Mage was perhaps the only reason Luna has survived this last month. She kept finding Luna crying over Zev's dissapearence for days before she decided to stick by her side. She noticed the mare losing weight at a fast rate and roon realize she wasn't eating. Mage was able to coax her to eat, but only enough to keep her alive. It was the hope of her lover's return that kept Luna going. Mage found she had to lie, to say he would come back, in order to keep Luna eating. The at least had some sense to drink when her mouth got too dry, but her lips were always peeling with dehydration.
Mage didn't know how long she could keep this up before she lost her.
A stranger's call of claim sent Luna into panic mode. She began calling Mage a Liar and sobing uncontrollably. Mage figured this was the end to the point she thought about leaving. The stallion could try to claim them, but Luna would already be dead. Did she want to watch this mare suffer futher? For days her mind raced with what she should do until finally a miracle happened. Voices rose about Zevulun's return.
Mage rushes back to the spot she left Luna, but the mare was collapsed in the dirt. "No! She shouts, but gains some hope as Luna's ear twitch at her voice. "Get up Luna! He is home!" She uses her nose to push the mare's belly. Though her strength would do nothing to keep up the large mare. Thankfully, Luna stirs more at the sound of his name. Mage's heart stings as she briefly thinks of her own grief, but she quickly shoves it down. Luna was more important in this moment. The spotted mare had something Mage would never have. "Get up! Come on!" Luna mumbles as Mage continues to push on her belly.
It feels like forever, but the mare finally sits up. "He is home?" Her weak voice comes out as a whisper as her tearful eyes look up at Mage. The grullo mare nods and Luna jumps up as if strength had returned to her body. Mage leads her friend to the spot she saw the others gathering around the cream stallion. Mage's heart flutters wildly the moment she sees the joy lift in Luna's face. The large spotted mare rushes forward, stumbling on her shakes legs. She pushes past the other mares (if she had to) to get to him. The smell of his blood or his wounds did not stop her large form from embracing him full force. The mare cries as her large boney head goes to digs into his forehead with her own. "I love you so much," Luna whispers.
It was as if nothing else mattered to Luna. She didn't care about the other mares there, even Mage in this moment. Not even the ribs that stuck out in her sides much like the day she first met Zevulun. She only cared that he was home.
