And then her heart changed, or at least she understood it;

and the winter passed;

The warm smile on his own lips gives her a small measure of confidence. Though she liked to imagine herself a more secure creature and in truth she was quite that in her own solitary company. Meeting Antares and his family had awoken a long dormant part of her that missed the family of her own that had been taken from her. Though she had been little more than a child when thieves had stolen and bartered her away for more beneficial nursemaids, Guinevere could recognize their devotion in the closeness of the Sadim.

Antares was kind, the gentleness in his dark eyes reminding her so strongly of those of her own sire that sometimes she found her heart aching with the longing. She tried to belong here as she should have but still, she cannot help but to feel different. Antares assured her from time to time, that once they were all strangers (save for his brothers of course) and that even the wives like Sayyida had once belonged elsewhere. It will take time…good things come with time.. the gentle words had been the encouragement that led her closer to the crimson stallion.

The gentle warmth of her question had been meant as a mere friendly gesture. She had seen Antares and Sayyida share similar moments and even the wild silver-haired queen and her companions from time to time. Though she liked to think that her observations were giving her a much better understanding of this life she so desperately clung to, it is clear from the stallion’s response that she still has much to learn.

Though he is not unkind in his reply, nor does his gaze harden with anger, Guinevere cannot help but to feel disheartened. Raven tipped ears rotate backwards and she dips her finely dished muzzle shamefully. ”...Uh…. Oh…” she murmurs, the playful amusement disappearing from her voice. The warm smile on her ashen lips falter just a bit as she lifts her eyes to gaze up at him from beneath the thick veil of her dark lashes. ”I..m… I’m sorry. I did not mean to offend you… if that is what I have done.” she says, pausing a moment to let a nervous laugh break the awkward moment. ”I have not lived with the Sadim long enough to learn such things it seems.”

A husband? Being claimed? That was hardly anything she would find herself worrying over. Aside from a few conversations with Antares and Sayyida from time to time, Guinevere found herself mostly on her own, the outsider who does not try hard to fit or find her place.

An ear twitches now as the thoughts linger in her mind. ”I..If that is too personal…” she pauses, her dark hooves shuffling beneath her as she takes a careful step back, ”I suppose asking you to join me for a drink and telling me more would be even worse then huh?”

It was perhaps a foolish offer, but somehow, for some reason, even being reprimanded from the handsome crimson stallion, was worth it if it meant learning more about him.
