Scripps Keeps Feeding BULL SHIT

July 19, 2023/ Scott Jones

We heard from Scripps employees that attended the first “town hall” held by Scripps CEO Adam Symson on Monday.

There are other town halls scheduled over the next two weeks.

One Scripps employee had this to say about the town hall that they attended. “Much of the Scripps town hall today was spent with corporate execs patting themselves on the back for raising MMJ pay,” the employee said, adding, “But honestly, should they be patting themselves on the back for doing something that should have been done decades ago? For years companies like Scripps have exploited journalists and staff in small market stations to the tune of forcing employees to defer student loan payments or choose between paying the heating bill or groceries. I’m sorry, but they don’t get a free pass…”

Symson has said the company is “reimagining local news,” but staffers tell FTVLIve that the company still hasn’t explained what that means other than paying MMJ’s more.

Lastly, an employee says that in the town hall that they sat in on, Symson mentioned FTVLive and claimed that he's offered to sit down and talk with FTVLive in the past and that I never responded.

I’m not sure by what means Symson has attempted to contact FTVLive, but I can assure you that I have never seen any such offer from the Scripps CEO.

Symson does follow FTVLive on Twitter and has for years. But he has not tried contacting us through Twitter, and a search of our email shows no messages from him.
