Henry Ford wouldn't have asked that but one of BIG OIL's CEO's would have.
Unlike the railroads, big OIL will live and die for failing to understand the BUSINESS they are in.
Railroads learned in the 60s when they started hauling Piggyback truck trailers and later Containers, they weren't in the RAILROAD business...but in the TRANSPORTATION business.
Big Oil sometimes advertises otherwise but they fight against the Earth's health to preserve their original invention....gasoline for Transportation by supporting just the first century's engine.
BIG oil SHOULD see themselves as in the ENERGY BUSINESS.
THE ENERGY BUSINESS.
They have the capital to invest in Solar, Wind, and Tidal electric generation and distribution and maybe safer nuclear too, because it is so efficient but instead they bribe politicians to fight it.
Imagine if we rolled the cost of DEFENDING OIL MILITARILY into the price of a gallon of gas. And the political cost of piping oil and gas across continents and political boundaries!
What do you suppose the cost would actually be in lives and treasure? Replies: There have been no replies.
