Re(3): Bargaining Position UAW

Oh Jim. Megatrends taught me to step back and focus on trends, not events. Pretend it's 50 years later and decide if what events happened will be mentioned as part of something bigger, or forgotten.

I take it ya did't read it. I don't quote it nearly as much as people quote the Good Book. One of the things I try to do with people like in here, is quit whining about their station in life, look instead at the big picture.

Fact is, what young people do during their HS years and for just that decade will mean the difference between scraping along in life or making an extra million dollars. For us that woudln't have happened had I not gotten out of broadcasting. Shoulda left when I was in Doodah when some of my TV coworkers did, but i stayed in it another 5-6 years up in KC. I did get computer skills during that time period, so had something to sell besides being fast typist with a deep voice.

Wife always did well... she could just point to a place, say "I wanna work THERE" and be working the next week. Broadcasting is harder to find a gig and ya often have to pack up the babies and little old lady and go to another similar sized market miles from family roots.

Did you say you left PV, sold your house, and went back to Wichita? My family was up here but they're gone now, living in our fourth house, the biggest one. I've been invited back into TV but not interested in working on someone else's weekday schedule. Lord knows, they could use the help in a dinky market that looks like T-town.

At some point, most broadcasters plateau to the level of their highest skill and can go up no further. I really did have a face for radio. Why did you get out and work off your kitchen table? Didn't like being supervised by a pushy sales manager? I can relate to that. Corporations destroyed a creative industry! Nobody ever smiled at WHB when I was there and they dreaded when the boss blew into town. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Maybe that's why the remaining half dozen of you have such shitty attitudes. You all just didn't have the skills to do something else without a pay cut. If I'm wrong, dont' trash me, TELL everyone why I'm wrong--or is that too risky for you?
