It hasnt changed for the better as far as I'm concerned. I doubt anyone who has experienced the jai alai atmosphere on a Friday or Saturday in the late 1970's right up until the strike would disagree.
It's hard to fathom now but the Hollywood Dog Track was so popular in the 1970's that the city of Hallandale gave two miles of their prime oceanfront and intracoastal property along A1A to the city of Hollywood to own the dog track. I cant even imagine the loss of tax revenue the City of Hallandale Beach has suffered for making that trade. At the time the dog track was worth it, apparently.
