i'll teach you the proper poise,

His discomfort only egged her on; inexperience was written all across the stallion’s face and she found it amusing. Certainly not in a cruel way, but in a way that fed into the self-absorbed and occasionally selfish part of her. One that she didn’t often show, despite occasionally giving the impression that she was one of those sorts of girls who cared all too much about herself and her appearance than anything else. Ella grinned toothily, eagerly awaiting some sort of response, when suddenly she found herself entertaining not one, but two potential suitors.

She flicked her blue eyes to the newcomer, taking a moment to appreciate the black stallion in the same manner she had the first boy. This one seemed much more confident in his approach, and why wouldn’t he when maturity was written in the way he carried himself? She tensed slightly, her golden skin twitching at nothing, as uncertainty gripped her. While the older man didn’t seem to be keen on a fight, she didn’t want to be caught up in the middle of one. It was still summer, after all, and while the initial testosterone-fueled hustle of spring might be over for the two boys, she was still apprehensive. So, she took a subtle step away from the two, blinking politely.

“Why, I was all on my lonesome looking for love,’ she said, her tone maybe a little more sarcastic than was necessary. There was truth to her words, but she doubted anyone would pick up on it, especially when she emphasized the deception with a feminine and dismissive giggle. “No, I washed up a few miles north, in some sort of wetland. Do you know of it,’ she asked.

She positively beamed at the bouquet of compliments he showered her in, but she voiced no comment of appreciation. Instead, simply, “I’m Ella,’ She cocked her head at the verdantly green-eyed man and flicked her ears at him. “Do you have a name?”

She gave pause to let him answer, before taking a step back and straightening herself. Her tail flitted against her hocks, dragging through the largely forgotten flowers. Meanwhile, the sun was sinking lower and lower. The first of many stars began to twinkle coldly and absently in the heavens, a stark contrast to the warm summer evening.

“Hmm,' she fussed, "tell me about your homes?” She had noted the younger stallion hadn’t offered and invitation, but it was no urgent matter. Ella was content to spend the evening with the two gentlemen, provided they continued to behave.
