He seems bashful about his mistake, but she hadn’t a thought left for something so silly and small. His worries were able to be assuaged and that was all that mattered. She would not be one to traipse off into the snowdrifts and become lost or prey - that was enough. He apologizes, but she shakes her head, not needing the apology and thinking him quite quaint to even feel compelled to offer it. What should her opinion matter, after all, to this near total stranger? And off they were, him ahead and her keeping her shoulder level with his flank while they swam to his home.

The swim wasn’t easy, or at least not for a horse that liked water (true enough) but had never lived surrounded by quite so much of it (even more true for the landlocked homeland she hailed from). She had swam for enjoyment in lakes and rivers and streams and ponds… but the ocean was an entirely new beast and not at all pleasant to accidentally sip from.

When they come ashore, she shakes readily and fully - unlike what she had done on the other shore - with a little dullness to her once bright sand-opal eyes. Two swims of extensive length and work had brought some of the fire out of her, but still she seemed to look about them in enough wonder for him to rest assured she was impressed in no small way by the dense foliage of the east bank of the Forest where the trees seemed the most interwoven of them all. He was not mistaken. These trees would well protect them - and even further in were trees of the coniferous persuasion with as much interlocking boughs to promise at least a decent bedding area beneath them.

"This is even better than I could have thought of for myself. I have never seen such perfect protection from the wind and snow than that there."
