Forget Me Knot

Mare - Appaloosa - 15.3hh - Frozen Mist

Weaving through the water was a creature. Black as night but the faint bit of white that could be upon the beasts one eye and muzzle. Sleek with water and churning up a muck, the beast forced its way onto dry land with a wheezing cough. Water had infiltrated their lungs from the long swim and burned its way through the beast's fragile throat. Its body was tired and its muscles more so than that of even its bones. Mental fatigue coated its system as it padded forward on sand that was hard thanks to the water lapping over it so many times a day. Lingering bite marks flashed daringly over a black coat that could now be seen with white speckles lining all over it. Black Snowflake, that's what the horse's coat was called. It was different than many of the horses back where they came, but who was to judge when fresh meat came forth onto unknown lands?

Blinking the heterochromatic eyes, the equine named Hedera Helix shivered faintly. Named after Ivy, the creature's name was unheard of considering the origin of it. Hedera was awkward and yet she got a name that could be powerful in the right hooves. Hedera was not powerful though. Her young and slightly smaller frame would lead her to be bullied back where she came. Her name was a laughing stock thanks to her mother and her siblings could not take her seriously. They were all named easily with names that rolled off the tongue. Hedera Helix was far from that. She was lithe, built for speed and quick movements. Her siblings were on the bulkier side thanks to them not being pureblooded like she was. She was a mistake, but she was alive and moving over to a new space in life that she hoped she would love in due time.

Letting her body ease onto the ground, Hedera did not have it in her to move forward more. The oceans lapping waves cradled against her body as she rested, unsure of where she was. She needed to move forward and find a better place to sleep, that she knew. Yet, her tired muscles did not aid her in any way shape or form to get her farther on the bank. The way her body protested even her laying sitting upright was painful and caused her coughing to become more of a painful thing than it really should be. Water needed out of her lungs and yet, she was unable to do well with it considering how she had been in the water for many months with barely any breaks on the islands she could find that dotted the vast oceans. She had traveled far and wide and now with land big enough, she rested.

With time passing, the mare stood. A full night had slipped away and now she slowly ambled farther into the area. Her mind was occupied by the sound of a waterfall, or at least something similar. Her body ambled closer and closer until she was looking up at falling water. A smile graced her lips at the sight, but her body soon enough laid down in the clean water below it to wash off the salt that had drawn a white thick line against her body. Heaving out a sigh, Hedera Helix rested her head on the bank and soon enough went back to sleep, not caring if she was to be eaten.
