Smells like a trend thats been underway for quite a while. When I was at KSN in Wichita, they had a staff of 85 in the newsroom--tho that was when we had SNC (Satellite News Channel.) Cnn bought out the network and after the annoucement, KSN pink slipped a third of the staff. I was lucky enough not to get riffed, but I did months later and I wasn't alone. Cable did a major tap dance on affiliate news. We no longer had a captive audience...cable divided it up and to keep the cost per thousand of the rate card, stations cut their rates. Its never recovered, as you old timers know.
BTW, I didn't 'sigh' and sign my handle to it...but someone often says that under my posts. This has been going on for years. There's a petty rat in here who hides and steals people's cheese when no one's looking. Don't leave your locker unlocked! Replies:
