- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
you know the tune so the words dont matter

The venom in her words made Castillon tuck his chin back, guilt briefly flashing across his face. “Well, I- no, that’s not all I came to say-” He floundered, his charming tongue rendered absolutely useless in the face of her anger and the situation he’d stumbled on.

What do you want? The hiss she spoke with and the rage saturating her tone made him take a cautious step back. He considered glancing around him to see if someone more equipped to handle a defensively angry mare with a newborn babe was near, but he wasn’t a child any more who needed to rely on older adults to better handle situations like this. How would his dad handle this scenario? Castillon tried to emulate Zevulun, tried to be wiser and better beyond his youth. “I just wanted to make sure you were okay,” he offered, but his voice wasn’t as confident as he wanted it to be, because even Castillon could see plain as day… Why should he have any say in making sure she was alright? And clearly, too, she wasn’t - she was under stress that he couldn’t even begin to fathom.

Then, another approached. Castillon glanced sidelong at the black stallion who he recognized by scent, a tightening in his gut setting him briefly on edge. Before anyone could speak, the older stallion seemed to take flawless charge of the situation, going on about hearing that she had been here (Hirka, he named her), that he had secured a home in the Bay, and even assured Castillon his interest was only with the young mother and nothing further.

Castillon’s dark eyes flicked back to the painted mare, Hirka, and he almost seemed to hold his breath, wondering what on earth her reaction was going to be to the approach of who was clearly the father of the small foal. By all accounts it was obvious he should bow out and excuse himself, leaving the young family to catch-up, but something… something kept his hooves planted there. Whether it was further curiosity for the young mother and her foal, or wanting to make sure this stallion was being completely truthful of his intentions, Castillon wasn’t sure. All he knew was he wasn’t going to leave until Hirka told him to and, judging by how she’d spoken to him before, it wouldn’t be very long at all until she did.
