At first when she smelled the Lagoon, Miriella had immediately thought it was Vadim, coming to collect her at last. Her narrow chest stuck out as she pushed her nose up into the air, grappling for only irritation to show so he wouldn’t even get the chance to see how scared she was and how happy she would be to get to see him again. But the icy winds brushed her pale nostrils again and she snorted with true anger. It wasn’t Vadim! It was some other damn Lagoon stallion!

Miriella stomped her hoof angrily, quite upset that she was going to be collected back to the Lagoon and it wasn’t even going to be Vadim to do it. Just her freaking luck!

The weather here was growing awful quite quickly. It hadn’t actually been so bad here in the summer; she’d even secretly thought it was rather pretty. But no one could know that, of course. Just when she was starting to begin to somewhat, possibly like Tinuvel, the weather turned awful. The ice stung when it whipped her, so it drove her into the trees, hoping to find one with a large enough trunk - or a cluster grown close together - to use as a wind block.

Just as Miriella whipped around to charge back through the trees and give this other Lagoon stallion a piece of her damn mind, she heard the howling of the wolves. Miriella’s neck shot upward, ears swiveling and blue eyes going wide. She looked more like a frightened doe than a horse at that moment. Her heart started to race and then, ahead, she heard a horrible hiss. Fear struck her belly even colder than the ice whipping against the Inlet.

She wanted to run away, self-preservation and all that, but she was actually frozen in place, unable to go forward and see if she could help, or turn and flee like a coward. All she could do was stare wide-eyed at the trees ahead, seeing the shift of the unknown brown stallion, the blur of tan from the creature that leapt at him, and hear the thud of the impact and the sounds to follow.
