As if on cue, a coughing fit starts. Bacardi can’t help the concerned frown that furrowed his brows, unable to help her as he waits for it to pass. Was her ailment getting worse? A relieved sigh manages to escape him when Grizel finally gets her breathing under control, though Bacardi gives a soft chuckle at the first words that she says. “I love you.” He replied, his lupine-colored eyes taking her in as she moves to stand flush with him. Although he tried to be, Bacardi was not altogether immune to her touch, but he did his best to remain in control. Clearly someone had to be.


“She is.” Bacardi agrees, his mind briefly turning to their growing daughter. Ulla would not be in the Forest forever. All too quickly she was becoming a young mare, and no longer a filly. Bacardi could only hope that he could take some part in the next chapter of her life, wondering if one of the neighboring stallions would catch her fancy. It would make it all too easy for Bacardi to still keep an eye on her from home. But that wasn’t what Grizel wanted to talk about. The heat he felt between them seemed to blaze hotter with her added confession.


“Grizel….” Bacardi doesn’t know if her name falls from his lips as a plea to not make this harder, or a question. She had survived giving them Ulla, but would she survive a second child. No, he had to be strong. He couldn’t allow it to be what took Grizel from him. “I’m sorry.” He can barely stomach denying her and reaches out to gently nuzzle along her strong neck. Surely she would know it was his fear of losing her that kept him from giving her what she wanted.
