GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
i made the devil run

As a child, Zira had only been able to stare longingly at the islands in the distance. The Common had been to the north. There were so many times she had lingered at the edge, pacing the invisible wall between herself and freedom, but she never had the guts to take that step. Not when she'd been told so specifically never to go there. Freedom had been there all along. That's why she'd come all the way here. They wouldn't expect her to flee here. She could remember seeing them watching her, they knew what she was thinking each time she walked at the very edge. And she'd surprised them all, it would seem, in some twist of fate.

"Hello!" Zira flinches, flattening her pale ears against her lean neck and slowly turning. Only then does she see the beauty and wonder in front her. If only that big yellow horse wasn't in the way. Her ears slowly perk and her gaze shifts to look straight past Castillon. "The prairie?" she parrots back to him, walking past him deeper into the territory. Far bolder than she should have.

She looks at the bright colors dotted across the gently swaying grasses in awe. "I didn't know it could be...like this." Her voice trembles slightly but she clears her throat, a bit more aggressively than she meant to before she turns back to him. She looks at him for perhaps the very first time, "this is yours?" It's more of an accusation than anything, but as quickly as she had turned, Zira has returned to her sightseeing.

She continues on, dropping her head to smell a soft yellow flower. It smelled...sweet. It was nothing like the lagoon here. Freedom felt...good. Though she wasn't entirely sure what she was meant to do with herself now. She could go anywhere, be anything. The thought was a little bit daunting. (Maybe more than a little bit, but Zira would never admit it.)
