Riddle Me This

So many things had the bay varnish roan confused. His young years had been so mixed with different walks of life. The Bay. The Lagoon. Captive and trained beneath them. It had left a sour taste in his mouth. Dark brown eyes were cast on a world with questioning. Mother had seemingly vanished those years back beneath missing father and he at various different times. Nothing had ever been as it should have. Why though? Was it his fault? Was it fathers? Had it been the Bay's? His mother's for being such a gorgeous creature? His father for being so stubborn and ready to fight for everything that was his? Leadership. Home. Family. At some point it had all belonged to Goose. Riddler knew this. He realized what they'd had and what they had lost.

Everything hadn't it? Riddler had father but what more had either of them? He sighed softly as he moved through the lush greenery that sunk easily beneath his feathered hooves. The Vanner mutt found himself coming into the presence of something amazing. She was beautiful. His deep dark eyes fell on her with such curiosity. His mind wanders a moment or two. Had Riddler ever had one he could love. Call his own? He doesn't recall it. Not to his recollection anyway. Why? That was more than not his fault really. He hadn't been around long enough. Hadn't stuck to one area for very long once everything had fallen from beneath their hooves. Out of grasp. It was strange really being back. Not that he'd ever really left but emerging from the shadows was more like it.

"Well hello there miss." There is a smile on his lips though his eyes shimmer with sorrow. Not just for himself but for this creature before him who was seconds ago by herself. Why alone? What possessed one to aimlessly wander alone when they could have the warmth beside them of another? A warmth that Riddler himself yearned for. Was it so very wrong to be loved and love in return? He doesn't believe so. What answers of this had he really though? "So cold the air is and you have just come from the pool filled with thick chunks of ice." A frown forms on those lips now as he moves to place himself against whatever wind had found its way to whip around them. Riddler could feel it play in his thick tendrils and he could have chuckled. It is chilly but the feathered creature that he is has a thick coat. He is used to winters being from the Bay. Once from the Bay really. A home he'd probably never find beneath his hooves again. Time would tell though.

For now he would shield her if she'd let him from the chill in the air while she dried. "I am Riddler my dear and might I name to such a pretty face?" Oh and she was stunning. Pretty indeed. Riddler could not lie and why would he? He's no reason to spin tales to a pretty creature that has captured his attention for now and perhaps in time a piece of his heart.
