nothing lasts forever;

Vadim

stallion | draft x | dunalino pintaloosa | 18hhs

Vadim had been anxious as the challenge was made; wanting to step between the two feuding mares and fight in Arsinoe’s stead. But the stallion couldn’t. Not because he wasn’t capable, but for the same reason she had not allowed her sire to step in. To be Queen, the badland’s heir needed to be capable on her own. This time was only made harder because it was his hide on the line, and unsurprisingly, the more experienced won. Vadim couldn’t feel disappointed in Arsinoe as she had tried, but his improving mood over the last few seasons quickly soured. He was tired of being passed around like a Trinket from Queen to Queen.

The pale, sleek stallion followed the mare to Tinuvel. Noticing the cold in the water before they climbed on the snow- and ice-covered shore. Salem had left him with the thinnest coat Vadim had ever had, and the frigid temperatures instantly had him shaking. The wind felt like razor sharp thorns cutting across his skin. Devi, who he had spotted pacing the shore, gave him little time to think about his discomforts. Her shrill voice instantly made him pin his ears, his muscles tensing as she launched herself at him. But Vadim didn’t pull away, taking the bite without flinching, despite the sting it left throbbing afterwards.

“Some greeting.” He huffed, his hot breath fogging on the cold air. “You must be behind this.” Vadim had thought she would be staying on Salem, but clearly Devi had different plans. “I suppose you plan to freeze me to death for my crimes?” By this point, her mother; Parvati, was forgotten as Vadim’s green eyes glared at Devi.
