Mea Culpa.

MY OWN FAULT.

Staring at the ocean, Rutger let his ears faintly tilt to the sides as if he were listening to things across the water, not the one coming from behind him. The red roan licked his lips faintly, tasting that of the salt from the ocean. His soft green eyes seemed full of pain, but he pushed some of it away when the sound of hooves came closer and he ever so faintly turned his head to eye that of this new horse that joined him. She did not have the stench of Paradise on her coat which he was thankful for, but he also had no clue of who she was either.

Scanning her light colored frame, he said nothing as he faintly reached out his nose to offer the exchange of breaths if she would like. Other than that, he pulled back after a space of time that felt far longer than he liked and tilted his head as her question entered his ears. Perking them her way a bit straighter, he let out a breath and shrugged. If he was being honest, the stallion did not know who he was, just the name that coated his mind from what his parents had named him.

“My name is Rutger, but to honestly answer your question would be difficult.” Rutger held no reason to lie. He would stick to the path he was meant to travel no matter how much danger Siren tried to place upon his back. Shaking out his frame though, Rutger looked back to the ocean as the gentle breeze tugged at his mane and the hair lining his body. “May I ask who you are?” Was his ending words, his eyes not leaving the horizon.

Rutger
stallion | 17.1hhs | gray blanket (red roan) | of paradise
