never saw a wild thing sorry for itself;

arsinoe.

She’d gone back to the Lagoon to start demanding more of Vadim’s captives free, only to find the whole place upended. No more captives, a Boss entirely uninterested in letting the usual ruffians do as they please. All in all it was a wildly uninspiring visit. So what, the Lagoon is just…good now? What about the promise she’d made to Vadim? What about the frantic escape of Mercury and her young daughter? Arsinoe has so many thoughts swirling through her head that she doesn’t head directly home.

Instead, she cuts through the Falls. Something about this place has always fascinated her - the idea that so much water and so much green can just…exist is foreign to her. The damp air, the rich smells of earth and rot and vegetation; this whole place feels luxurious.

Arsinoe spends a few long hours lounging, feet in the cool water at the base of the Falls, letting the roaring of the water drown out her thoughts and the spray soak her to the bone. When she finally resigns herself to needing to leave, she heaves out a great sigh and heads for the beach. She loves the Badlands, truly; she adores the sweeping red cliffs and the harsh beauty of the sand, the spiky, dried scrub and Joshua trees all a testament to how hard everything fights for survival.

When she finally makes it to the sand, a massive (handsome – does she have a type?) stallion is standing there. She blinks at him, green eyes wide as she casts an appreciative glance over him. He’s staring out across the ocean, the same way she needs to head.

Making a point to make noise so he isn’t startled, she walks up next to him and stops. “I’d invite you home with me,” she finally says, voice a teasing lilt, “But I think you might starve on Salem.” Desert breeds don’t get nearly this big. Could someone this large even manage to survive her home? Still, she hasn’t brought a new member home for her herd in weeks – it can’t hurt to convince this one to stick around, can it? At the very least, he can be some eye candy for her and Sarama until Vadim gets over himself and comes back home.

“Wanna give it a shot anyway?” she asks him, grinning in his direction. “Promise I’ll walk you back if you can’t handle the Badlands.”
