She appreciated the learning Roamer had done so soon since her birth - so attentive to the rules and yet always toeing the line to see where the boundaries actually lay. That Voyager does not call her out means that Cromer also does not do so. She had long since learned to dance through life to the pace of her partner. She listens to Voyager explain the whole circumstance instead, finding Voyager might have presumed too much out of the notorious Lagoon spreading out and causing mischief. That was all but their motto until the recent leadership, afterall. Certainly the change of Boss hadn’t made such huge strides.
She feels pity for the Boss nonetheless, thinking about ever sending Roamer away for her own good and finding the idea distasteful. Even with her need for lone excursions, she cannot imagine that being for any true separation. She would fight tooth and nail if anyone had dared tried to swear her absent or steal her daughter away.
Then Voyager calls Roamer and the tension that remained in Cromer’s shoulders settles. Finally, as he would never have called Roamer into danger, the threat was gone. There was nothing more to worry over and the family could at last be at rest… or so she thought. "I can come with you, although I don’t know what use I would be in the long run. I do not care about the others here, my ties aren’t to the land or the others who claim a piece of it. Only you. Only her." She does not know his mind, that he thought to train her somehow, but it was well that he’d not treated her as though she were utterly inept in defending herself. She had accepted his interference because it was his place - but not because she could not hold up a defense under her own power.
