Silence filled the air around him, the muffled chewing of grass not even enough to ruin the peace Nahawi felt. His pained body was taking its time to fill itself with food, but he was stopped from enjoying his meal when the silence was bothered by hooves. His dark tipped ears flicked to where the hooves were before one of his blue eyes flicked over to that of the Prime Minister Khar’pern. The red dun held in a groan, but he did lift his head as she came closer to him.

“It does not feel like home.” The stallion muttered before shaking his head and looking away from the rose grey mare. He did not wish to watch her too long, his heart pining for a mare in her territory's depths. He had done his best to avoid the Peak as of late even though Garmr had made it more difficult. He was growing tired of the political games of the Lagoon and the rotten darkness that fueled everything there. He wanted true peace, not little snippets of it when he managed to sneak off towards the meadow and feast on the dry land grass.

Flicking an ear towards the mare as she spoke of his wound, the beast gave a faint nod. “It is. You have managed to find me on a day where I am not in a fever induced haze.” Nahawi saw no point in lying to Khar’pern. In many ways, if he were to die today, he would be thankful that it was at her hooves. It would look bad for the Lagoon, but already he was contemplating abandoning his post and giving up what he thought he could do. Then again, Nahawi knew he would never change that place for the better and was tired of even trying at this point.

“What has you down here in the Meadow? Your home is far safer than down here.” Turning back to Khar’pern, Nahawi raised a horse-like brow. He might be staring at a mare that could make things all that more difficult, but one thing remained and always would. It was his job to make sure that mares and others never got hurt by the hands of the Lagoon. She might be able to hold her own, but that protective instinct was there and no one would ever take that from him.
