3 opinions so far? Last chance. Posted on February 23, 2024 at 02:24:59 PM by Craig G
Only people willing to commit are bptjai88, pelotapete, and Jim (big time at +9).
Actually pelotapete only states who he rooting for, so you could say we only have 2 predictions.
All Urreisti-Oyhenard so far.
We should be able to do better than that.
FWIW, my Secret Sauce for this = FAIL.
By that I mean that you could focus on games in common for both teams as a possible clue. However if you look at the Bixente-Atain team stat, you see that as of a couple days ago, they had played together in 25 games. Now when you consider that in some of those games, Urreisti may not even have been a participant, and if he was, the random chance that he was partnered with Oyhenard was about 1 in 9. That works out to a ridiculously small sample of about 3 games. In fact, I wrote some code to search for those cases and it came up with only 2. No good.
This means that for a "games in common" approach, you would have to do something like "Bixente with any of the top 4 backs vs Urreisti with any of the top 4 backs". Maybe use the same angle for Atain and Oyhenard.
The key idea here is that the normal doubles stats for each player are a mixture of all partners, but if we are focusing on match-ups of best vs best, we don't care one bit if Bixente or Urreisti struggle with the least competent backs. That's camouflage.
