Helios had been unsettled by Romaro's abrupt departure, especially after seeing a similar expression on the face of the stallion's golden love Daffodil. The russett stallion had scarcely left the coastline while waiting for the bay dun male to return. He'd made rash decisions while angered before and knew that there could very well be consequences. However, he had little idea of what Romaro might have set out to accomplish.
The call had come from not far off, just across the last few rises of dunes before dipping onto the beach. The deeper tone of it suggested that it was Romaro freshly arrived. Helios had already started moving closer to meet the man when he heard Daffodil start screaming for him, for help. The Arabian charged forward over and down the very last dune. His hooves scrambled over the hardening terrain. Flickering over Daffodil and then Romaro, Helios' dark eyes locked on the hulking shape rising from the water. He bounded forward ready to meet the invader, a picture of furious intent.
“Leave!" The words were spat from his mouth like venom. Helios continued his rapid approach, intending to make it closer to Romaro and launch at the behemoth if need arose.
