(CONTENT WARNING! Child death.)

Thunder rolled on the horizon, the dark bellied clouds bringing the roaring storm closer. Rain pelted the ocean in a sheet, the heavy cascade of the water making it more than difficult to see out on the ocean. Standing in the Bay watching the storm, Pacific Rim let her tears fall in a steady stream with her hooves steady on a knoll. She was above the trees on the knoll that faced the ocean physically, but her mind and heart were in broken taters laying at her feet in a heap of broken and disfigured limbs.

Watching the storm make its way to the island, Rim closed her dark eyes with her ears tucking to her head. She had been standing here for a while now, her body lost in the train of thought that ran in circles in her head. She was forced to suffer her pain with a headache and her heart breaking farther and farther with every tear that fell down her face. The salty liquid had already left trails with the two toned skin of her face showing darker hues. Her tri colored body shivered, but the mare held herself strong even though she was starting to fracture more than she ever thought possible.

As the storm came closer, Rim shifted her hooves on the ground and gently flicked up a clod of soil that was damp with the rain that had come at the start of her mission to find her daughter. She had been running and searching for a week and a half, the rain having followed her for that long before stopping. It had been a sad but sunny day the moment Rim found her child in a pile of broken bones and blood upon the ground. The blue roan mare had never screamed so loud in her life as she had in that moment, her daughter’s glassy eyes staring at the heavens. Rim did not know what had happened, but the predatory scent upon the filly had Rim guessing it was the wolves which made everything feel a whole lot worse.

Moving over the knoll, Pacific Rim waited for the rain to hit the ground and reach her, the building pain in her heart finally reaching its last point when the thunder boomed over head and lightning struck the ground not that far off. Shaking her head, the mare reared up with a scream that broke the skies raging storm for only a brief moment. She had done her best to hide the pain in her heart, but the mare couldn't any longer. Her mind officially scrambled to the point that when she reared and screamed, the world began to grow hazy and black spots colored her vision. Stress had brought the strong mare to her knees then before finally, her body fell with the child that lay there. Rim had rearranged her daughters broken body and now the two lay together, their bodies touching but only one breathed the air.
