This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Re(17): WW1 - Albert Chorley, Service Number 6743

My current plans are;

Investigate family ties further - I no know of Albert's wife, brother, children and also have his parents names. So there is lots to unpack and process here.

Confirm Alberts address and DOB - We have 97 Armitage Street, Ardwick at the moment, but I've also heard 20 Armitage Street pop up too, I think perhaps his parents lived on the same street... anyway I should be able to get this from Ancestry census data, with enough investigation we can probably nail this down.

Contact LNWR (London and North Western Railway Society) where Albert worked as a Goods Porter. The Secretary has already come back to me with some information, but sadly nothing directly tied to Albert due to missing records - however we have irrefutable evidence Albert worked for LNWR and there may still be some milage investigating this link - I was hoping for a bit of a diamond like a group photo perhaps. This might require using a library and actually using a book (something I'm rubbish at)

Bonus tasks;
Locate an image of Albert would be incredible, or his battalion.

Also images of Armitage Street in Ardwick - there are some on of this location on here; https://images.manchester.gov.uk/index.php?session=pass so we can see where he lived. This area of Manchester is completely gone now.

I would also like to get a pic of his headstone in the cemetery in Pozieres British Cemetery, Ovillers-La Boisselle, France. I was surprised that all these are not digitised and by the CWGC website implies they migth be in the process of doing this - however I know someone who regularly travels to a place near north of Paris, and this cemetary is not far - perhaps I can get this through them.

Long story short... I found this medal and have now become obsessed with finding out why it was where it was - but having a fun time doing it, all this stuff is just so interesting - I'm not of a military background myself, but discovering this and Albert, he deserves to be recorded and remembered, like so many others.
