Is it true that hurt people hurt people? Why?
Yes, it's true, but it's also a very convenient cop out.
There's not a person that has not reacted in a way that is inappropriate for the situation because they've been hurt. It happens to everybody. Where it becomes a problem is if you buy into that notion to the extent where you think that because you've been hurt you have the right to make somebody else feel pain, especially if it's not the person that did anything to you in the first place, or if you're punishing somebody for something that didn't even happen.
It may start out as hurt people hurt people but it very quickly ends up being selfish, entitled, assholes hurt innocents. It's a slippery slope.
